After 18 enriching years in the tech world, I recently took a deliberate break, a moment to reset and prepare for a fresh chapter. And what better way to kick off this new beginning than with a truly refreshing conference week, culminating in the exciting relaunch of my WordPress blog!
This week , starting summer has been an exhilarating deep dive into the evolving landscape of technology, marked by insightful conversations and groundbreaking revelations at both Oracle Cloud world and Oracle Database World. It was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with industry leaders and explore the cutting-edge advancements shaping our digital future. And so, with renewed energy and a fresh perspective, I am thrilled to restart my blogging journey right here.
Oracle Cloudworld: Agentic AI in Action
My journey kicked off at Oracle Cloudworld in New York, a truly inspiring event highlighted by the 23AI keynotes. Witnessing “Agentic AI in action” was a powerful experience that underscored the immense potential of artificial intelligence to transform industries.
Steve Miranda’s insightful remarks made the event even more memorable, setting a high bar for innovation.
Oracle Database World: Data, AI, and Deep Dives
The momentum continued at Oracle Database World, where the focus shifted to the heart of data management and its convergence with AI. A particularly enriching discussion unfolded with Jeff Smith, Product Manager for Databases.
Our conversation delved into the intricacies of 23ai, NoSQL, and the exciting advancements for AI and Database developers. We explored crucial topics like ORDS, Restful APIs, sqlcl, robust security measures, and the capabilities of Autonomous Database. Jeff’s insights were invaluable, providing clarity and a deeper understanding of these critical areas.
Security Insights with Host of AskTom
Furthermore, I had the privilege of joining Richard Evans, the host of AskTom Oracle DB Security Office Hours, to discuss DB 23ai and its security aspects, alongside the critical role of DataSafe. This discussion highlighted the increasing importance of robust security in an ever-evolving threat landscape.
Reflections and the Road Ahead
Reflecting on these experiences, it’s clear that the future of databases is inextricably linked with AI and advanced data handling. The shift towards integrating AI and harnessing the power of JSON operations signifies a pivotal moment for database professionals.
As technology continues to advance, it’s an exciting time for DBAs to evolve their skill sets and embrace these new frontiers. My journey from Oracle to open source, and from traditional databases to multi-cloud and ML/AI, continues to be a dynamic and rewarding exploration of the tech landscape.
